A book is a conversation between the viewer and the creator. Only the one who made the marks and the one looking at them can hear it.

Even though the talk is quiet, it's there every time the person looking feels a jolt and thinks, I've felt that. I've seen that. Or even, I wish I could go there.

Sometimes the person looking feels the urge to make their own marks on paper, with words or pictures.

And when that happens, the talk has been magic.
